As the market grows, brands also become much more concentrated. CCID Consulting's latest research report shows that in the first half of 2007, Nokia, Motorola and Samsung accounted for 61.4% of the overall mobile phone market, up 8.9% year-on-year. CCID Consulting's data also shows that Nokia and Motorola both saw a notable rise in their market shares over the first half of 2006.
The sum of their market shares rose almost 10%. CCID Consulting thinks the main reason behind this is that the 2 companies staged major offensives in the low-end mobile phone market in the first half of 2007. CCID Consulting's "Research Report on China's Mobile Phone Market, January-June 2007" shows that Nokia and Motorola accounted for 57% of the market of mobile phones priced between 500- 700 Yuan. Their share of the market of mobile phones priced under 500 Yuan reached as high as 70%.
