China: Produce Price for Major Agricultural Products Kept Running up in the Third Quarter 2008
According to the result of nationwide survey on 31,000 Agricultural Holdings conducted by National Bureau of Statistics of China, it showed that in the third quarter, the produce price for major agricultural products (refers to the direct price which sold by the agricultural producers) grew up 19.1 percent, year-on-year. Of which, the produce price of planting, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing products rose 12.3, 12.1, 31.3 and 12.8 percent respectively.
In terms of planting products, the produce price for foodstuff gained a year-on-year surging by 12.3 percent. Of which, produce price for cereal, wheat, rice, corn, beans, potato, cotton, oil-bearing crops, vegetable, fruit, and tobacco leaf climbing 8.5, 9.1, 7.6, 9.3, 35.6, 13.7, 10.3, 34.4, 7.8, 11.2 and 19.0 percent; while that of sugar and tea leaf declined 2.8 and 16.0 percent respectively.
In terms of forestry products, the produce price for timber and bamboo was up by 9.2 and 10.4 percent respectively; that of forest products of gum resins and fruits went up by 13.3 percent.
In terms of animal husbandry products, the produce price for slaughtered pigs, meat cattle, live sheep, poultry, eggs, and dairy products jumping 42.0, 28.6, 27.3, 14.4, 12.9 and 30.8 percent respectively, while that of feather products decreased 11.7 percent.
In terms of fishing products, the produce price for seawater products climbed up by 7.4 percent year-on-year. Of which, seawater fish went up by 9.6 percent, while that of seashell dropped 1.3 percent; the produce price for freshwater products was up by 17.2 percent. Of which, freshwater fish and freshwater shrimp and crab climbing 17.2 and 12.1 percent, respectively.
