China: Produce Price of National Agricultural Products Descended in the First Half Year 2009

According to the result of nationwide survey on 31,000 agricultural production and management units, it showed that in the first half year, the produce price for national agricultural products (refers to the direct price which sold by the agricultural producers) dropped 6.2 percent year-on-year. Of which, the produce price of planting, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing products declined 1.9, 12.5, 12.7 and 2.3 percent respectively.

In terms of planting products, the produce price for foodstuff gained a year-on-year declining by 0.2 percent. Of which, produce price for cereal went up 1.4 percent; that of wheat increased 8.7 percent; that of rice boomed 4.8 percent; that of corn declined 7.4 percent; that of beans descended 13.5 percent; that of potatoes rose 0.9 percent; that of cotton fell 18.7 percent; that of oil-bearing decreased 22.5 percent; that of sugar ballooned 1.2 percent; that of vegetables came up 6.4 percent; that of fruits dipped 9.4 percent; that of tea leaves dropped 5.9 percent; and that of tobacco leaves shot up 0.9 percent.

In terms of forestry products, the produce price for timber, bamboo, and gum resins and fruits was down by 5.0, 0.2 and 16.6 percent respectively, year-on-year.

In terms of animal husbandry products, the produce price for slaughtered pigs went down 22.1 percent; that of meat cattle increased 0.4 percent; that of live sheep rose 0.3 percent; that of poultry boomed 2.0 percent; that of eggs ballooned 2.3 percent; that of dairy fell 12.8 percent, and that of feather products decreased 13.9 percent.

In terms of fishing products, the produce price of seawater products dropped 7.6 percent year-on-year. Of which, seawater fish and seashell fell 5.3 and 11.0 percent respectively; the produce price of freshwater products was up by 3.3 percent. Of which, freshwater fish and freshwater shrimp and crab was climbing up by 3.2 and 6.2 percent respectively.
