In July 2011, the total retail sales of consumer goods attained 1440.8 billion yuan, up 17.2 percent, year-on-year. Of the total, the retail sales of consumer goods of industrial enterprises above designated size was 669 billion yuan, increased 23.3 percent. From January to July, the total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 10024.1 billion yuan, up 16.8 percent, year-on-year. Month-on-month increase of the total retail sales of consumer goods in July was 1.26 percent.

In terms of different areas, the retail sales of consumer goods in cities was 1249 billion yuan this month, up 17.3 percent, year-on-year; while that in urban areas was 191.9 billion yuan, up 16.4 percent, year-on-year.

In terms of different consumption patterns, the catering services in July gained 162.7 billion yuan, up 17.1 percent, year-on-year; the retail sales of goods achieved1278.1 billion yuan, up 17.2 percent, year-on-year, of which, the amount of enterprises (units) above designated size was 617.1 billion yuan, up 23.6 percent, year-on-year.
