China: Value-Added of the Industrial Enterprises above Designated Size Expanded From January to September 2008

From January to September, value-added of the industrial enterprises above designated size (all state-owned enterprises and non-state-owned enterprises with an annual income over 5 million yuan) was up by 15.2 percent year-on-year, or 3.3 percentage points lower than that in the same period of 2007.
In terms of main sectors, the growth rate of textile industry mounted up by 11.6 percent; that of manufacture of chemical raw material and chemical products hit 13.0 percent; that of non-metal mineral products industry was up by 18.6 percent; that of smelting and pressing of ferrous metals industry reached 12.4 percent; that of general equipment manufacturing industry rose by 20.0 percent; that of transportation equipment manufacturing industry went up by 18.7 percent; electric machinery and equipment manufacturing industry jumped 19.6 percent; that of telecommunication, computer and other electric facilities manufacturing industry increased 15.1 percent, and that of production and supply of electric power and heat power expanded 11.0 percent.
In terms of main products, the coal, crude oil and electricity reached 1930, 140 million tons and 2,607.2 billion kilowatt-hours, up by 14.4, 2.0 and 9.9 percent respectively, year-on-year; that of pig iron, crude steel and rolled steel achieved 366.74, 390.95 and 445.15 million tons, rose by 5.1, 6.2 and 8.1 percent respectively; that of cement was 1010 million tons, up by 6.9 percent; that of vehicles was 7.48 million sets, up by 13.6 percent, of which, automobiles was 4.04 million sets, jumped by 12.5 percent.
The sales ratio of industrial products was 97.76 percent, down by 0.07 percentage points with the same period of last year. The export delivery value of industrial enterprises reached 6,049.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.7 percent.
Value-added of the industrial enterprises above designated size increased 11.4 percent in September, year-on-year.
