China Door Manufacturers Increasing Prices, Production Capacity
Kleist said: "China's construction boom has led to a rise in the cost of solid and engineered wood. Despite higher costs for these materials, most makers say they will limit export price increases to 10 percent or less to stay competitive." Among surveyed manufacturers:
- 5 percent expect to increase prices by over 10 percent;
- 60 percent plan hikes of 5 to 10 percent, and;
- 35 percent expect increases of up to 5 percent.
Kleist added: "Even with higher export prices, strong demand worldwide is leading China's door manufacturers to increase capacity." Among those surveyed:
- 49 percent said they will add a new factory;
- 42 percent expect to upgrade existing facilities;
- 5 percent plan to increase subcontracting, and;
- 4 percent plan to expand capacity through mergers or acquisitions.
