Market for Chinese Brands of Big Screen LCDs Continues to Grow in 2007

In the first half of 2007, 6.65 million sets of Chinese brand displays were sold in China. Out of these, the CRT display sales volume stood at 1.498 million sets, down 39.4% year-on-year, while the LCD display sales volume reached 5.152 million sets, up 112.7%. In the LCD market, sales for the 19" display and >19" display segments grew fast, up 495.9% and 1204.0%, respectively.

Continuous price drops are the main driving force behind market growth. The price gap between 17", 19" and >19" wide-screen products narrowed further. Wide-screen products have become a "shining" star. The "combined force" of the pull by firms and the pursuit by users is the key for its thriving sales.

Big screen, wide-screen, innovative design, environmentally-friendly and energy-saving are expected to become the main development trends of LCD display products in the future.

In the global and Chinese market, thanks to the guidance by firms and growing user demand, big screen LCD displays which integrate advanced wide viewing angle, contrast, color and response time technologies have become one of the hotspots in the market. With changes in the supply and demand of LCD panels, the logic trend will be that big-size LCD panel technology will improve while cost will drop. Sales will fall year by year.
