CCID Consulting's research shows that driven by the home PC market and SMB users, desktop PC sales volume in China grew 13.6% in the first half of 2007, marking a small rise in growth rate year-on-year.

Change of counter terminals to brand PCs in the banking sector also played an active role in pushing up desktop PC sales. In the first half of 2007, Notebook computers were still a hotspot in the market. In particular, stimulated by continuous product price drops and growing price/performance ratios, sales in the home market reached a new high. Notebook computers accounted for 20% of the overall PC market. The recovery of the securities industry and the trial of 3G networks both brought new growth points to the server market.

CCID Consulting's research shows that with the successful release of duo core and Vista OS, a peak of PC renewal will be brought about. The rise of personal financing will also bring new business opportunities to PC products. Security and applications have become a hotspot in PC sales. After PCs entered a thin profit era, selling products alone can no longer support computer firms' brand development. To grasp the market, vendors must adopt the "application PC" concept and provide PC solution sales. Compared with the concepts of services-type products and software services, the application- oriented hardware concept has risen quietly. For example, uploading digital centers, games, education and multimedia applications onto PCs to bring customers numerous shared resources or solutions. Firms including Lenovo, Founder and Tongfang are also making efforts in applications. Though the summer vacation only starts in July, most firms have already staged marketing activities in June. Security and applications have become a hotspot in PC sales.
