The Electronic Component Import and Export Market Experienced Rapid Growth in China
added: 2008-01-11

China is a large electronic component producer. Its sales value accounts for 17% in the world. There are 31523 electronic component manufacturers in China, 8987 of which are above designated scale (the annual output value is more than RMB five million), as well as nine research institutions, including the electronic component, electric modules, micro electric, printing circuit board etc.

In addition, 1361 manufacturers (including 83 vacuum electronic devices, 728 semiconductor components, and 550 optical electronic component), and products include the vacuum electronic component, semiconductor separated component, optical electric component (laser products, semiconductor illumination, LCD, infrared) etc.

The electronic component import and export market maintained rapid growth in China from Jan to Mar, 2007, and the total import and export value amounted to USD 16.941 billion, up 25.03% y-o-y, a bit lower than the growth rate of 27.82% in 2006. The trade deficit was USD 352 million, down 13.98% y-o-y. The export value amounted to USD 8.295 billion, rising 27.07% y-o-y, and the import was USD 8.646 billion, increasing 23.18% y-o-y, about 10% lower than the growth pace in the same period of the previous year. The growth slowed down.

Printed circuit board contributes the most to the total import and export value. Printed circuit board and other four categories, namely battery, capacitor, electro-acoustic component and electronic connector component, rank top five in the foreign trade. The total trade value of the top five amounted to USD 11.497 billion, accounting for 67.87% in the total.

As for small categories, 4-layer less and 4-layer above circuit board contribute a lot to import and export value. The former created USD 2.78 billion, up 22.58% and taking 16.42% of total foreign trade value; the latter set USD 1.66 billion, up 43.51% y-o-y. In addition Li-ion battery hit USD 1.49 billion. In Q1 2007, all the above mentioned three small categories have broken USD 1 billion of total trade value.
